=Installing the SocketServer=

The socketserver is installed by the installation program into the directory:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\Socket Server

Note: If you are running on WOW64 on a windows 64 bit computer navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\Socket Server \" and right click on the socketserver.exe icon
and select properties. From the properties window set execution compatibility mode to be “Windows 2003 SP1”

To install as a Windows service either:

# Open a DOS session and enter the following command:

“C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\Socket Server \scktsrvr.exe" –install

Or

<li> Run batch file <install dir>\SystemFiles\AddSocketServerService.bat to perform the same action.
<li> The socket Server will not be activated immediately after installation as a service. Please start the service manually or simply restart the server:

<li> Right click on the “My Computer” on your desktop and choose “Manage” from the menu.
<li> Expand the “Services and Applications” node in the tree and choose “Services”.
<li> From the list of services in the right hand panel, locate the “Borland Socket Server” entry and right click on the entry under the “Status” column.
<li> Choose “Start” from the context menu.

<li> When the socket server is running an icon that looks like a power socket will appear in the System tray under Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 2003. On Windows Vista and Windows 2008 the icon may not appear when the socket server is running as a service (because of the new security rules), but will appear if started manually.
