BPC RiskManager - Updating Your Personal Preferences

From RiskWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Introduction

A user can change a number of general settings individually of the general defaults. Most user changes are remembered automatically on your computer when you make them (such as the last search or filter options).

Some settings must be explicitly saved. These are controlled in the "Set-Up Profiles/My Settings" screen.

The things you can set here are:

  1. Your password for accessing the application when locally managed security is operating
  2. Edit and read only grid colouring
  3. Spell checking
  4. Use of Tree Navigation for risks
  5. The form scaling method for when you are using non 96dpi /small fonts computer settings.

Accessing the User Preferences Screen

All user preference settings require the following initial steps:

  • Open your BPC Risk Manager client and select the Administer tab

    • Uncheck the "Use Tree Navigation" check box.
    • Changes are recorde instantly.

Form Sizing Settings

The application is written in 96dpi and small fonts, so the best performance and appearance will be at those desktop settings. However you can accommodate different screen resolutions by choosing an appropriate option from the "Form Control" drop box.

  • The default setting is "Resolution Independent" which will attempt to rescale the windows and reposition labels and controls appropriately to accomodate your screen configuration. This should suite most scenarios.
  • If your desktop settings are 96dpi with small fonts, you can safely choose "None" and the screen refreshes will be slightly faster.
  • Fixed scaling is slightly faster than resolution independent scaling, but will not do as good a job of resizing the windows and controls as the resolution independent setting in most situations.
  • Elastic Scaling will cause a form to grow or shrink as you resize the window, making the contents smoothly larger or smaller, while displaying the entire content (ie. scrolling of windows is turned off).
